DOLL SERIES/MERCEDES

I have been longing to add to my doll series for the last while. Today I decided to simplify the process and photograph on digital rather than film on my 4x5 view camera. These dolls are not meant to be scary or invoke images of demented dolls from horror films. My thinking is that at one time these dolls were loved and cherished and yet they often end up looking a bit the worse for wear and lying around in buckets of discarded toys. I approach these portraits as I would a person, trying to find some truth.

Where in Vancouver

Where in Vancouver is this image of

Jimi Hendrix? I took this image for a t shirt I am creating, I extracted Jimi from the background. I am experimenting with photos on t shirts. I am working with Oddball Workshops who are really helpful.

Portrait of Ann Mortifee

Last summer I was hired to take portraits of Ann Mortifee, Canadian singer and songwriter. She needed an author photograph for her book "In Love with the Mystery". We were listening to her hauntingly beautiful CD when this portrait was take. It was one of those times when the energy in the air was profound.

END OF THE YEAR

My desktop becomes quite crowded with folders full of images taken through the year. Before they are archived and filed once again. I thought I would add some to my end of year blog. Well it appears that the common theme is RED. The Olympics in Vancouver, portraits with a red accent and a dancer in red.
